David Lowery (*1980) is multi-talented - he is not only a director, but also a screenwriter, editor and producer. Together with Toby Halsbrook and James M. Johnston, he founded the filmmaking collective Sailor Bear, which is known for its critically acclaimed films. Sailor Bear’s film AIN’T THEM BODY SAINTS, starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck, for which David Lowery both wrote and directed, was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. In 2016 he directed the Disney Film PETE’S DRAGON, a live-action film which he had co-written. He went on to direct the drama film A GHOST STORY (2017) and the fantasy epic THE GREEN KNIGHT (2021).
